AV News 192 - May 2013
After a short stop at
Burra, a former Copper
mining centre, two
nights were spent at
Rawnsley Park, a large
station just outside the
Flinders
Ranges
National Park.
Highlights including a walk in Wilpena
Pound, a visit to ancient aboriginal
rock paintings, and an early morning
thunderstorm which produced some
spectacular cloud and light. The next
two nights were spent at Arkaroola, a
spectacular wilderness sanctuary in
the Gammon Ranges, where Howard
and Suzanne went on the famous
Ridgetop Tour, taking in parts of the
area which cannot be accessed in
any other way.
The return to Adelaide took in
Nepabunna, an aboriginal settlement
south-west of Arkaroola, and the
Clare Valley, a winemaking area to
the north of Adelaide.
Howard recording wild bees
at a not-so-safe distance!
A great many pixels
were burned over the
five day trip, and it can
be expected that one or
more of Howard and
Suzanne’s forthcoming
sequences will feature
Kangaroos, Wallabies,
Emus,
Wedge-Tailed
Eagles, gum trees and
large amounts of dust!
The next AV Fest will
take place in 2015
