AV News 179 - February 2010 More News from the Trenches V e rn o n B a rlo w Our last meeting of 2009 at Prestwich Co-op Camera Club was 15th December and was the Club AV project night. Earlier in the year, "Mid June I think" we had organised our 15 AV members into 5 sub groups and set them a project which had to be completed for showing at the last meeting before Christmas. The theme was a short poem which I had found in the Daily Mail and the idea was that one member of each group, already active in the art of AV production would pass on their skills to the other members of their group. The Poem which apparently is quite old is shown below for your information. Amy Elizabeth Ermintrude Annie Went to the country to visit her Granny Learnt to make butter learnt to make cheese Learnt to milk cows and take honey from bees Learnt to spice rose leaves and learnt to cure ham Learnt to make cider and blackcurrant jam When she got home she could not settle down She said there was nothing to do in the town Nothing to do there and nothing to see Life was all shopping and afternoon tea So Amy Elizabeth Ermintrude Annie Ran away back to the country and granny What's been happening since our last report To AV News, well quite a lot. Everybody worked their little cotton socks off and the result was 6 short AV's of varying durations. We projected each in turn allowing time between for the rapturous applause, which was only to be expected, then we ran through them all again with a pause between each one for comments. Ok I can hear you saying, how come 6 from 5, well it just goes to show how keen we are at PCCC. Well the evening was a great success and it's encouraged people to invest in PTE and Audacity. So hopefully we should be seeing more entries in our annual AV competitions. Some members use software from Photodex, such as Producer and Proshow Gold4, others are using PTE V5.6 and V6 and are all learning as we go, exchanging knowledge and ideas. Now we have to set up a new project for 2010 and persuade our syllabus secretary to allocate some dates for AV evenings. Our Clu
