Photographic Alliance of Great Britain
Awards for Photographic Merit in AV Discipline
The Awards for Photographic Merit in prints and slides
have always proved popular with club members, and as
such they are held twice a year with capacity applicants.
Not so with the AV section, this is only held bi-annually,
why?, because it does not seem to appeal to the AV
fraternity. Gaining a distinction, no mater whose it is, is a
great achievement and gives one an immense feeling of pride.
Several have now gained their 'Masters' MPAGB - a magnificent achievement,
but even these people have started at a lower level.
The Awards are open to all members of Clubs affiliated to the PAGB
through their Federations and are at three levels :• Credit
CPAGB Blue badge and certificate
• Distinction DPAGB Red badge and certificate
• Master
MPAGB Gold badge and certificate
All applicants must pre-qualify in accordance with their Federation's criteria
as having supported Federation photographic events. This support must
have been given for a minimum of 2 years for CPAGB, 3 years for DPAGB
and 5 years for MPAGB from current active photographers. A retrospective
period of 10 years may be considered. Applicants for MPAGB must have held
DPAGB for at least 11 months on date of application.
So why not give this next adjudication a try, applications have to be in by
January 31st 2009. Your own Federation Awards Officer must be contacted
first; they will supply you with an application form. If we should receive more
than can be accommodated in one day, then I'm sure another adjudication
could be arranged in 2010.
Want to know more, then give me a ring; I can give advice, and send you
a folder on the AV awards. Remember, a PAGB distinction once gained is
held for life, no annual fee, even if you choose to not be a member of a
photographic club, the award remains yours, you achieved it.
The next adjudication will be held on
Saturday 7th March 2009
at Greenhill Methodist Church, Greenhill, Sheffield, S8 7RL
Hosted by Sheffield PS Audio Visual Group
A Member of the Yorkshire Photographic Union
