On The Hoof
This was my third opportunity to attend the North Wales & Wirral AV Group
workshop at Capel Curig and as usual it was every bit as good as the previous
sessions. The meeting on the 23rd January started with the customary
attendee sequence critique of short AV's. The morning's presentations were
typically diverse including a promotional sequence for a rock band, another
based on portraiture and another featuring the travels of a teddy bear! In
contrast to the usual exe format my own AV entitled 'An AV all about AV's' was
shown using high definition Blu-ray media, more on that later.
The main activity of the day featured 'On
the Hoof' - Back by Popular Demand!
Attendees were split into four groups and
charged with the task of producing a
finished AV about Slate, complete with
music and voiceover, by the end of the
afternoon!
Groups were limited to the same
selection of music CD's and a choice
200 images - taken by John Rowell,
featuring Llanberis, its old Quarry
Workings, preserved Workshops and
Hospital.
This guaranteed a day of frenetic and fun
activity with every group selecting
images, agreeing a storyline, scriptwriting
and recording voiceover using shared
resources.
At the end of a very enjoyable day, four
quite disparate, entertaining and
reasonably complete AV's were
presented by each group in turn.
