In the end the two sequences I submitted did not achieve any awards and
rightly so, but I still came away from the weekend with a great sense of
pleasure and having my eyes opened wide. It feels like for the last 18 months
I have been slowly pushing a door open and each gentle push let me see more
and more of what was behind it, but at the AV Festival, with the help of all the
entrants, organisers and attendees, I managed to get that door opened wide
and get a full view of the world that is AV making.
The competition itself was planned like a military operation with the added
vital ingredient of ensuring that everybody was well looked after and would
