AV News 189 - August 2012 I know that many RPS AV Group members obtain their recording licences from the IAC but may be unaware of the possibility of gaining IAC distinctions once they become members. These are worthwhile and I would encourage those who wish to broaden their experiences to apply. One advantage is that the distinctions are based on records of achievement in competition, with no necessity to submit sequences to a Panel. Application forms can be downloaded from the IAC website :- www.theiac.org.uk The requirements for all the IAC distinctions are outlined below. For each level · Each AV sequence must have been made in the name of the applicant in the role of the producer. · Club entries will not count. · Each sequence may be used by one applicant only. LICENTIATESHIP - LACI This distinction is granted by the IAC Council for achievement in AV work. To qualify the applicant must have accumulated at least 2 points as follows :1. Two AV sequences which have each won two awards (These can be either International awards or an award at the National AV Championships) will be worth one point providing that one of these awards was via the Geoffrey Round/ Peter Coles AV Competition. This method of accumulating points will need to be repeated twice. (4 sequences and 8 awards are required in total, with a minimum of 2 of these awards being gained via the Geoffrey Round/Peter Coles AV Competition.) 2. Non members of the IAC can also apply for this distinction subject to their becoming a full member within eight weeks of the close of the Peter Coles AV competition. 3. Applications need to be ratified by Council and to cover administrative costs, there is a £4 application fee.
