AV News 194 - November 2013
The accomodation at Sutton Boninngton is not 5 star, after all it is meant for
students. But it was clean, tidy and warm. However there was one man who
could not find his room, he was looking for 61W until he discovered that it was
actually M19!
Sunday morning and the third and final projection session, less than
previous years as this time the number of entries was down to only 54. After
watching all the sequences the Jury led by Keith Leedham, Chairman,
(centre) Robert Albright and
Suzanne Gregory went into
solemn conclave and we wait
for the white smoke!
This is a good time to
remember all the hard work
that goes on to present a
weekend such as this. The
sound, images and faultless
projection by the Technical
team of Graham Neville, Brian
Jeffs and Peter Brown was of
a very high standard and
many thanks to all concerned.
We were summoned back to the main hall at
2:30 pm by MC Keith Scott to hear the
verdict. For myself the results were good
and well received by all, but I would have
made one or two small changes. But we
never do totally agree with the Judges. It
was a very hard job to decide the winners as
all 54 sequences were of a very high
standard, so it was no small task and a great
Thank You to the Jury for all their hard work.
After the results and presentation of the
prizes, there was one more award to give, the Dobson Henry Medal was
presented to Martin Fry for his outstanding work to our interest and love of
AV. (See Page 33)
Time now to say goodbye to all friends new and old. But first a little
reflection - attendance was down, but there may be reasons for this, also a
lack of younger people. We must try to get the younger person on board or
we may not last much longer. We must spread the word of our hobby and
create interest in a much wider audience. As stated in AV News 172 May
2008 - Use it or Lose It.
Was it a good weekend - Yes. Did we see great work - Yes. Was it well
run - Yes. Enjoy your AV and please support this and other events around
the country. Spread the word and the wonderful world of AV to a wider and
younger audience.
