We are also pleased to announce that the Park District has acquired a 1.3-acre parcel adjacent to The Grove . Funding for the purchase was made possible through an Illinois Department of Natural Resources Land and Water Conservation Fund grant , with matching funds provides by the Glenview Park District Open Space Acquisition Fund and the Grove Heritage Association .
The land was part of the original 868 acres owned by the Kennicott family . It is an important acquisition , not just from a historical and cultural perspective , but also ecologically , as part of the greater wetland and upland complex .
We have a few new , free , exciting fall activities to look forward to this month ! Join us at Fuller Air Station Prairie on Saturday , August 20 for our Prairie Fall Fest as we celebrate 15 years of prairie life . Learn about prairie ecosystems and participate in family-friendly activities for all ages .
On Friday , August 26 from 5:30-8:30 pm , bring the whole family to Stay Cool @ Back to School at Glenview Community Ice Center . Free skating and curling lessons are offered , along with drop-in hockey and broomball play and a Public Skate movie night – all for FREE !
If chillin ’ at the farm is more your style , join us for our final Evening on the Farm , August 26 at Historic Wagner Farm . Bring a picnic and enjoy everything summer evenings are supposed to be with extended hours from 5-8 pm . Take a stroll around the farm , listen to entertainment from local performers and finish your evening with ice cream from Sweets & Treats .
And , of course , we hope to see you at all of our favorite fall celebrations that are back in full force – Grove Folk Fest , Wagner Fall Festival , Fall Sales and Halloween Spooktacular .
