The concept of ‘NZEB’ (Nearly Zero Energy Building), a European response to climate change, was introduced by Michael O’Brien (Innovation & Development Manager).

National skills specifications for NZEB trades have been developed by WWETB to offer qualified tradespeople and site supervisors an upskilling opportunity to ensure they have the capacity and expertise to meet the necessary standards for building to NZEB requirements.

WWETB attended the Network of UN International Centres of Excellence (NICE) as a one of the frontrunners in the industry, when they extended an invitation to members of the National Advisory Group to participate in their High Performance Building forum. The first meeting of the Network of UN International Centres of Excellence (NICE) took place in the BEEX building in New York with WWETB present as part of the Irish delegation.
