Community Education tells it's story!

WWETB Community Education Programme is one of 16 Further Education Programmes offered by WWETB. It is delivered through a team of Community Education Facilitators Sarah Lavan (Wexford), Helen Rafferty (Waterford City) and Aine Whelan (Waterford County).

The purpose of Community Education is to provide community based education opportunities that address social and education disadvantage. In the Community Education model, local groups take responsibility for playing a role in organising courses, deciding on programme content and delivering tuition.

As a team we decided that a priority action for 2019 was to produce a 10 minute film that would tell the story of Community Education in WWETB. We would use this to showcase the values and ethos of community education as a promotional tool when we working with agencies and community groups.

We never expected the final outcome to be as powerful as it is. The groups and learners told their stories with such honesty and openness. They have given us a wonderful gift and we will use this gift to grow and develop our community education programme. We can see how through our work we are impacting the lives of others in a positive way. We are making a difference to people, communities and society.
