Arts Week

For the second year running Coláiste an Átha have run an Arts Week full of activities and experiences around the various art forms. This week is very kindly supported by Wexford Co. Council and The Parents Association. The aim of the week is to provide students with an opportunity to experience some of the Arts in a fun environment. Not only do students experience the Arts but it also supports Wellbeing, Attendance, and Participation for our whole school community.

Some of the activities this year included workshops in Bodhrán, Dance, Stop Motion Animation, Wood Experience, Creative Writing, Blind Drawing, Textile Sculpture, Guerrilla Gardening, Singing, Ukulele, Uilleann Pipes presentation and to conclude the week we had a performance from Tumble Circus (Belfast) on the Friday afternoon. Arts Week also coincided with Happy National Choral Singing week in association with Mental Health Ireland and we had a vocal workshop facilitated by Ms Laura Carroll.

Many thanks also to entire staff of Coláiste an Átha for their support and contributions to the week, especially to those who facilitated the workshops, Mr Jamie Murphy (Wood Experience), Rhian Foley (Guerrilla Gardening), Mr Tom Corcoran (Creative Writing), Ms Laura Carroll (Vocal Workshop) and to David O’Brien (Caretaker), Ms Teresa Wickham (Secretary), Mr O Hanlon (Deputy Principal) and Ms Martin (Principal) for assistance coordinating the week.
