The Leaf cabin is very simple, and as different as the powertrain may be, the interior technologies are far more mainstream. The instrument cluster highlights this perfectly.
Where some firms may have gone with a digital display, with numerous graphics, Nissan has stuck with a simple speedometer above the standard cluster, keeping in easy view.
Connectivity is through the firm's NissanConnect system, this allows you to to check charge status to pre-heating the cabin on a cold winters days using an app on your smartphone. This could help increase vehicle range as it gives you the ability to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin without using battery energy, instead doing it when the car is plugged in to the mains, while recharging.
The system also allows users to view a charging map that is capable of showing which charging points are available and which are being used in your general area, or along your route.
It also features a completely revised navigation system, maintenance alerts and a car-finder facility.
The touchscreen system is functional without being mindblowing, and perhaps this is something Nissan need to look at during the Leaf's next revision.
