Autistic Spectrum Digest (Autism) Issue 5, March 2014 | Page 2

Well I suppose that it is a little self indulgent to say each month that this issue is better than the last, but it is true. Shan and I don’t take the credit but all the accolades go to the amazing group of writers and contributors who have donated their time and efforts to our magazine. We had a hard time keeping ourselves to around 80 pages and have more than a dozen stories and a few reviews. We continue to bring you the summary of news and research from the past month. While there is no theme per se, I do think this issue has a bit of an “Entertainment” flare. Our stories cover comics, professional singers, Disney and beauty pageants. Now that is quite a mix. We welcome you are loyal readers, our recent subscribers and our newest writers to this 5th edition. It is our policy to limit advertising to bring you the very best without too much commercialism. It is only through your support that we are able to continue. Thank you so much, Every month I feel a little swell of pride as our little publication gains interest with professional writers, and experts in the field of autism. Unfortunately we are loosing one of our experts this month. Goodbye to Alistair Charlton, who will be starting his new role as editor for Mobile Choice magazine next month. I think we had a dream at the beginning of this project. A dream to provide readers correct and interesting information at the tips of their fingers. Information that wasn’t a chore to find on the internet. The most important thing to me was inclusion, that the magazine would feature writers, journalists and voices from the spectrum. It’s been a sad month for news over at www.autismdailynewscast.com, with the disappearance and death of Avonte Oquendo in New York. Roberta and I would like to extend our heart felt condolences to his friends and family.
