There’s a part of me sitting here this
afternoon in disbelief that I’ve put eleven
issues of ASDigest together and a 120
something page special. I know that we
have grown as a publication in these last
twelve months, and my dream of having a
magazine written for people who are
autistic, and proud, is a step closer.
This edition is a pre-celebratory edition,
this week we also launched our evergreen
special edition of amazing autistic women,
which you can read all about further along
in this magazine. This magazine is
forworded by the amazing Tania Marshall,
who we also feature this month.
Most of all I feel grateful. I really hope that
we are producing something which is of
value to our little community, but also that
we are helping to raise awareness of
autism as a whole, and promoting
inclusion. We are all different and should
be loved for our quirks, but this isn’t
always easy. In fact challenging social
stereotypes is probably the bravest and
hardest thing we have to do in our lives.
Every single month of reading the
hundreds of articles I’ve laid down and
edited for ASDigest by now, I have come
across a story which has floored me, had
me in tears, or inspired me in one way or
another, and this is a humbling experience
in many ways.
We have such an amazing, supportive
team here at ASDigest, you will notice
that our Editor in charge Roberta Hill, is
on vacation with her family at the
moment, but she really is along with our
senior writer, Jo Worgan, the glue which
binds us all together.
Writing for us we have Paddy Jo Moran,
Founder of ASKPERGERS, Olley Edwards,
fab all rounder and entertainments
writer, Beth Parker, our resident Aspie
journal writer, all individuals on the
Spectrum with their own very different
way of expressing their opinions.
We are currently looking for people to
join our team, and would love to hear
from you. No degree in journalism
required, just a great eye for a story and
enthusiasm, dedication and passion for
what we’re doing here at ASDigest.
