Autistic Spectrum Digest (Autism) Issue 10, August 2014 | Page 2

Hot is right…. Summer has finally hit hard where I live. Every month we publish at least 120 news stories in www.autismdailynewscast.com and about 80 pages in ASDigest. Quite a feat for such a small band of writers. So it is great when others join us in our passion to inform and inspire. Thanks for helping share our work with others. When I asked Shan about this any theme for this month’s issue, she said “Well there is sort of a focus on change and transition.” Recently, I have been accused by my partner on not being that receptive to changes in schedule. I laugh as I think of our autistic teen who panics at any shift in routine. But there is truth to it especially as I grow older. So, it got me thinking about what would help me and I bet it is the same for all of us. We can’t control everything but we most certainly can provide more information and processing time. I expand on this in my rant and rave this month. It’s been such an exciting month for us here at ASDigest towers, you may have noticed, but we’ve been reshuffling a little on the magazine and actively searching for writers who are on the Spectrum to join in and add their voice to the growing choir of voices we have in ASDigest on the Spectrum. This month, we have a lovely new edition to our little team in the form of Olley Edwards. There’s not a lot Olley can’t do to be fair, actress, model, author, and screen writer and producer. I’m so happy to introduce her to our readers as our new entertainments correspondent. We have vacancies for high quality writers on the spectrum occasionally, for both the magazine and our sister site www.autismdailynewscast.com and if you are sitting there now reading this and thinking you’d be perfect for one of the roles, then please, send me an email at [email protected], and I’d be happy to have a chat! Have a lovely Summer break!
