My name is LaShay Price and I am the President of DreamSetters Foundation . I am a 30yearold native of Great Falls , South Carolina . Being raised in a rural community did not bring about many opportunities growing up . My hometown lacked so much compared to other cities . I graduated from High School as an honor graduate and received numerous scholarships towards my college education at Anderson University . However , I never completed my college career because of the many disadvantages that , I felt , stemmed from growing up in a small town . I felt like I was not properly prepared for the next step in life .
I watched others around me , not getting the motivation needed to take the next step after high school . Just because you don ’ t happen to be an honors graduate , does not mean you cannot go off to college , nor does it mean you can ’ t accomplish all of the things desired in life . I noticed , however , there was no one pushing my fellow classmates not to give up on their goals and visions . They had no one encouraging them to apply for college , no one helping with SAT / ACT preparation , no one helping set goals after high school . No one helped unless they asked . I was the one who never allowed any of those obstacles to stop me from excelling in life , the resilient child who had the ability to bounce back despite the odds life dealt me . I could fall down seven times and get up eight . I never allowed obstacles to hold me back from accomplishing the many visions and goals I had planned for my future .
