LaKisha is the owner of KLK Events & Designs, which is a full service event planning and design firm in Houston.
She also owns The Aspiring Planner, which is a training platform for those aspiring to be event planners.
She is the single mom of Kaniecia Dorty (21) and Kaylon Dorty (18). This family has been through a lot together,
but what makes them special is that their bond was never broken. The closeness of this family is remarkable in
every way. Their favorite time together is watching movies together.
When asked how motherhood has changed her life, Lakisha stated, "It has made me a better person. To think
that I created two wonderful human beings is an amazing feeling. They make me work hard and give me the
drive I need to keep going. They give me life!"
When it comes to living authentically as a family, LaKisha states "We face our truths every day. We hold each
other accountable but never love each other any less."
LaKisha shares more on her journey of being a single parent and her love for her children. She encourages other
mothers to stay prayed up and understand that it's okay to do things your way and not the way of others.
