THE WEEK
UK Lynda Kelley, manager
of Day Lewis pharmacy in
Devon, holds a pair of plastic
testicles, which she has on
display to raise awareness of
testicular cancer. The balls
are nestled on a red velvet
pillow, with the message “How
well are you looking after
your Crown Jewels?”. The
campaign triggered a flood of
complaints but the pharmacy
is unrepentant. “Kids have
been coming by after school
and yes, they have a laugh,
but one boy could take that
message away with him and
check himself,” Ms Kelly
said. “We’ve been bold with
what we did so it would get
attention, rather than just a
poster which wouldn’t work.”
The campaign is part of the
annual Movember event.
“I’m sick of
IVF specialists
being the kicking
boys. Look at
plastic surgeons
and GPs who
make money
from frequent
revisits.”
