nternational Convention Centre Sydney ( ICC Sydney ) has contributed A $ 2.53bn in attendee expenditure in its first five years of operation , despite the pandemic .
The venue has over 200 events secured for the remaining first half of 2022 and a good pipeline through to 2030 .
The opening of international borders should soon pave the way for the return of international events which traditionally account for over 25 % of the venue ’ s revenue mix .
“ Clients have indicated their strong desire for their events to go ahead in person and they have elected to push back

dates from January in order to proceed once the Omicron wave subsides ,” says ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy .
“ We ’ ve just held our first consumer exhibition for the year with on track attendance , and business summits , exams , conferences and banqueting events are booked in these coming weeks .”

The venue puts health and safety first and foremost , operating both its EventSafe protocols as well as parent group ASM Global ’ s VenueShield Programme , the CEO notes .
Donaghy also highlights the ICC Sydney ’ s strong event Legacy Programme . “ The benefits of delivering events also run through

to our deep supply chain and legacy impacts will reach out into regional areas through our food and wine producers as well as our First Nations communities , young people and emerging artists and entrepreneurs and the many charities and communities we support ,” Donaghy says .
The venue also offers ICC Sydney Connect , a customisable online platform for broadcasting event content and engaging attendees and the Media Studio – a dedicated permanent space offering broadcast recording services , live streaming and digital event solutions .
Donaghy notes next year ICC Sydney will be home to key international events

such as the Human Rights Conference , which forms part of the Sydney Pride Festival . Other events scheduled in the calendar include the World Scholars Cup , International Congress of Actuaries and the 45th International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference .
“ This year ,” he says , “ ICC Sydney is supporting organisers to reimagine their networking breaks through the introduction of a Connect Outdoors initiative , a service offering four packages from Coffee and Conversations , to Connect and Revive , to Rustic Winery Reception and a Skydeck Social Club . The service helps organisers take advantage of the venue ’ s outdoor spaces and views across Darling Harbour .”
