DAY 1 Fly to Brisbane
DAY 2 Brisbane
On arrival , collect your hire car and make your way to your hotel .
DAY 3 Brisbane
Take in as many of the sights as you can ! Perhaps take a river cruise , ride above the city on the Wheel of Brisbane , conquer the Story Bridge , head to South Bank for riverside dining and maybe take a dip at Streets Beach .
DAY 4 Brisbane / Gold Coast
Travel south for the Gold Coast , an entertainment playground where beautiful sandy beaches , thrilling theme parks and a vibrant dining and cultural scene come to life ( 49 miles ).
DAY 5 Gold Coast
Spend the day as you choose . Maybe simply laze on a stretch of sands or perhaps learn to surf ? Enjoy waterfront shopping , local markets or get a taste of the region through its thriving culinary scene . If you fancy a breather from the city , explore the serene Hinterland with its impressive array of lush rainforests , bushwalks , waterfalls and spectacular lookouts .
DAY 6 Gold Coast / Noosa
Travel back north and beyond Brisbane to Noosa , a sophisticated seaside village whose hub is buzzing Hastings Street ( 137 miles ).
DAY 7 Noosa
Take your pick from a scattering of picture-perfect beaches along the coastline , follow one of the five coastal walks in Noosa National Park , perhaps discover the beauty of the Noosa Everglades or venture into the sleepy Noosa Hinterland . As the day draws to a close , you ’ ll find no end of enticing eateries and bars perfect for a sundowner .
DAY 8 Noosa / Hervey Bay
Continue driving north for Hervey Bay , hailed as the whale watching capital of the world ( particularly June to September ). There are also delightful beaches , watersport opportunities and delicious local fare to tempt you , such as Hervey Bay scallops ( 108 miles ).
DAY 9 Hervey Bay
A fabulous day lies ahead as you embark on an included tour to discover the world ’ s largest sand island . Led by an experienced local guide , you ’ ll see K ’ gari ’ s ( Fraser Island ) iconic sights including Lake McKenzie for a revitalising swim in the crystal-clear waters , a drive along 75 Mile Beach , Eli Creek for a float down this fast-flowing freshwater creek , and a glimpse of the historic Maheno Shipwreck .
DAY 10 Hervey Bay / Hamilton Island
Return to Brisbane where you return your car at the airport ( 180 miles ). Fly onwards to Hamilton Island , one of the most popular havens of the Whitsunday Islands . On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel .
DAYS 11-13 Hamilton Island
Three days to chill amidst this pristine landscape . Of course , you could take to the sea by stand-up paddleboard or kayak , or book a trip out to the neighbouring Great Barrier Reef or the idyllic Whitehaven Beach ( at extra expense ). However you spend your time , don ’ t forget to stop and take in the sunset and panoramic views at One Tree Hill Lookout .
DAY 14 Hamilton Island / Cairns
Transfer back to the airport for your flight to Cairns and , on arrival make your own way to your hotel .
DAY 15-17 Cairns
There ’ s no shortage of things to see and do while in Cairns . It is your launchpad to the Great Barrier Reef so be sure to book a trip out to marvel at the incredible marine world below the waves ( at extra expense ). Northwest of Cairns is Kuranda , where you can take a ride above the rainforest canopy on Skyrail . Of course , you can simply stay in Cairns and cool off at its lagoon , or maybe make the most of your hotel ’ s facilities .
DAY 18 Cairns
Having had quite the adventure and seen so much of this wonderful Aussie state , it ’ s time to head back to the airport for your onward journey .
