DAY 1 Adelaide / Clare Valley
Collect your hire car and deprt Adelaide for the charmingly secluded Clare Valley , a place to relax and unwind and appreciate what life has to offer . Dotted amongst the patchwork of pristine farmland are over 35 wineries and cellar doors to explore and sample along the way - you already know you won ’ t be leaving here thirsty !
DAY 2 Clare Valley
A day at leisure to further explore this stunning wine region that has been producing wine since 1851 . Known best for its Rieslings and boutique cellars , the area is also gaining a reputation for its boutique beers and ciders , which can be found at a variety of micro-breweries . Why not hire a bike and pedal along the picturesque ‘ Riesling Trail ’ which travels past many cellar doors and other visitor attractions making it ideal for a leisurely afternoon with a distraction or two . Why not stretch your legs along one of the walking trails and soak up the fine scenery or , alternatively if golf is your game , there are numerous courses to book a round . However you opt to spend the day , you are spoilt for choice when it comes to food . From farmhouse restaurants , to gourmet pub fare and romantic dining locations , there are delectable offerings at almost every turn .
DAY 3 Clare Valley / Flinders Ranges
Leaving the Clare Valley , drive through the outback to the Flinders Ranges taking in the spectacular views of Wilpena Pound , a majestic natural amphitheatre , and the surrounding ranges . The rest of the day is at leisure and , as your bed for the next couple of nights overlooks the southern side of Wilpena Pound , you ’ re well placed for exploring .
DAY 4 Flinders Ranges
At leisure . Choose from an array of activities offered by the resort to fully see and experience the outback , such as guided walks , 4WD tours of the Flinders Ranges or Wilpena Pound , balloon flights or Station Tours which include the water run and mustering sheep ( all extra expense ). Alternatively , take a trip to the scenic gorge of Brachina , a refuge for the endangered yellow-footed rock wallaby , as well as birds and other animals . Return via Parachilna and visit the Prairie Hotel , one of Australia ’ s iconic outback pubs , then on through the historic town of Blinman .
DAY 5 Flinders Ranges / Adelaide
After breakfast leave the Flinders Ranges and head south to Port Augusta . Maybe visit the harbour , the School of the Air or the Flying Doctors before continuing on to Adelaide .

DAY 1 Adelaide / Renmark
Collect your hire car and set off for Renmark . Along the way there are numerous places to stop , including the Barossa Valley , Blanche Town or Barmera . Renmark itself is positioned on a sweeping bend on the magnificent Murray River .
DAY 2 Renmark / Headings Cliffs , Murray River
Meet your guide and fellow walkers early this morning before boarding the pontoon ‘ cruiser ’ boat for a short cruise along the Murray River to the start of the walking route . Discover the lagoons that are havens for waterbirds , learn about the site of a WWII Japanese internment camp and cross creeks that feed the red gum forests and box woodlands . A gentle climb through the cliffs reveals magnificent views of the vast Murray River floodplain that will surround you over the next three days . A short transfer across the river in the cruiser and you have arrived at your destination . Your “ Boat Guide ” will welcome you aboard and settle you in .
DAY 3 Headings Cliffs / Chowilla Creek , Murray River
Rise before the sun and walk a gentle slope to the rim of the Murray River valley for sunrise . Watch the vibrant colours of the cliffs come to life and marvel at the walking route below before returning to the houseboat for breakfast . Later , on the daily walk discover Aboriginal canoe trees , giant red gum forests and small islands along leafy Amazon Creek . On arrival at your floating home you ’ ll enjoy a local tasting plate .
DAY 4 Chowilla Creek / Bunyuip Reach Cliffs , Murray River
Awake to the mists on the water and after a tasty breakfast learn about the Murray Darling Basin and its vast network of rivers . Cruise to the Chowilla Creek Environmental Regulator before walking along Chowilla Creek , restored wetlands and the proposed site of the 1960s Chowilla Dam . In the afternoon celebrate your walking journey on Queens Bend Cliffs before cruising back to the houseboat as the late afternoon sun illuminates the red cliffs . A campfire awaits before dinner .
DAY 5 Murray River / Renmark / Adelaide
After breakfast take a self-guided short walk along the river , before cruising in the pontoon boat through Lock 6 . Rejoin the houseboat downstream and cruise for two hours to the innovative Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery , set in a 100-year-old shearing shed on the banks of the river . Enjoy a tour with the head brewer before sitting down to a fine barbecue , before saying farewells . Depart for Renmark by bus and arrive early afternoon where you collect your car and return to Adelaide where your tour concludes .
