DAY 1 Cairns / Daintree National Park
Collect your hire car and drive north along the coast , perhaps taking a refreshment break in laidback Port Douglas , before continuing to Daintree National Park , a breathtaking marvel estimated to be around 135 million years old .
DAY 2 Daintree National Park
At leisure to explore the oldest living rainforest in the world . Perhaps meander along Daintree Rainforest ’ s boardwalks keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife , take the Skywalk in the Discovery Centre and walk through the canopy high above the ground , head to Mason ’ s Swimming Hole or Emmagen Creek for a dip or , ride or hike your way through the forest by following marked trails . Alternatively , you may wish to book a cruise along the river where you can safely spot crocodiles and , if time allows , stop by Daintree Village where you can browse the markets .
DAY 3 Daintree National Park / Cape Tribulation
Before you head off today , why not visit Mossman Gorge , where the lush rainforest cloaks the steep mountainsides and crystal-clear water cascades over granite boulders . There ’ s an elevated boardwalk that takes you through the lower rainforest canopy with superb views along the way . A short drive brings you to Cape Tribulation , a breathtaking coastal region where the rainforest collides with the spectacular Great Barrier Reef . Take a stroll on this world-renowned beach and admire the fringing reef from the Kulki Lookout or wander along the mangrove boardwalks of Myall Beach .
DAY 4 Cape Tribulation / Cairns
Perhaps take a trip out to the Great Barrier Reef for the chance to snorkel over the incredible and vibrant marine world . Alternatively , join a guided bush walk , go zip-lining through the canopy , spend time on the water by hiring a kayak , or stay on dry land and rent a bike to spend an hour or so riding through rainforest tracks before emerging onto an isolated beach . All too soon , it ’ s time to bid farewell to this extraordinary part of the world and return to Cairns where your tour concludes .

DAY 1 Cairns or Port Douglas / Daintree National Park
Departing from Cairns and Port Douglas this cultural journey traverses the pristine mountains and beaches of the Daintree region following the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive . Your first taste of local Indigenous culture is at Cooya Beach ( Kuyu Kuyu ) the traditional fishing grounds for the local Aboriginal people , the Kuku Yalanji . As you set off on a coastal walk you ’ ll experience traditional Aboriginal hunting and gathering techniques , plus learn about the abundance of food and medicine that can be found amongst the diverse eco-systems . Discover how to use a spear and sample your fresh catch whilst learning about Kuku Yalanji culture . After lunch , your cultural journey continues to the Daintree River for a cruise in search of crocodiles and amazing birdlife . Continue past Wundu ( Thorntons Peak ), the highest mountain in the Daintree region and a highly sacred place for the Kuku Yalanji . This afternoon , take a walk along the awe inspiring beach at Kulki ( Cape Tribulation ) before dinner at your hotel .
DAY 2 Daintree National Park
Your cultural journey continues with a picturesque drive to Mossman Gorge where you embark on an extended guided rainforest walk through the spectacular gorge for a true understanding of how the Kuku Yalanji people connect with this piece of paradise . Discover the unique flora and fauna before you have the chance for a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Mossman River ( conditions permitting ). After lunch , travel a short distance to Janbal Aboriginal Art Gallery , where you will experience Aboriginal art and culture through hands-on painting and storytelling . Spend time with Binna whose contemporary art style is inspired by his homeland , before you create your own Aboriginal art style souvenir of your own . This relaxed paced cultural experience concludes with a return transfer to Cairns or Port Douglas .
