DAYS 1-2 Fly to Christchurch
DAY 3 Christchurch
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel and later this evening meet your travelling companions .
DAY 4 Christchurch / Mount Cook
After a city tour travel through the southern Canterbury Plains to Lake Tekapo see the brilliant turquoise water , The Church of the Good Shepherd and the Sheep Dog Statue . Marvel at the spectacular mountain ranges including Mt Cook and if you wish , take an optional scenic flight over the Southern Alps ( extra expense , weather permitting ).
DAY 5 Mount Cook / Dunedin
See Lake Benmore and follow the Waitaki River to Oamaru , before heading south to Dunedin for a city tour and free time . You may be interested in an optional tour to see local wildlife in their natural habitat ( extra expense ).
DAY 6 Dunedin / Te Anau
Travel along the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle to learn its tragic and scandalous history . After time to stroll around this Garden of International Significance enjoy an Ultimate High Tea . Travel on through Balclutha and Gore to Te Anau . An optional visit to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves is available ( extra expense ).
DAY 7 Te Anau / Queenstown
Drive to Milford Sound for a cruise on this stunning fiord . See spectacular Bowen Falls and towering Mitre Peak as you enjoy a picnic lunch and later , travel to Queenstown .
DAY 8 Queenstown
At leisure . Optional activities include a thrilling jet boat ride or a tour of the scenic Skippers Canyon ( both extra expense ). This evening board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw and cruise to Walter Peak Station for dinner .
DAY 9 Queenstown / Fox Glacier
In the old gold mining village of Arrowtown visit the Lakes District Museum then travel via the Haast Pass to the beautiful West Coast . See the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps as you head to Fox Glacier for an optional scenic flight ( extra expense and weather permitting ).
DAY 10 Fox Glacier / Christchurch
Travel to Hokitika to visit the Greenstone Factory . Head on to Arthur ’ s Pass and board the TranzAlpine , renowned as one of the world ’ s great train journeys . View rivers and
valleys as you travel through the Waimakariri Basin , over viaducts and through the Canterbury Plains into Christchurch .
DAY 11 Christchurch / Wellington
Travel along the East Coast to Kaikoura and soak up the spectacular scenery as you drive through Marlborough Country , known for its food and wine . Continue to Picton , to board the Interislander Ferry for your journey through the Marlborough Sounds and across Cook Strait to Wellington .
DAY 12 Wellington
Explore Gallipoli : A Scale of War exhibition at Te Papa , New Zealand ’ s National Museum . Reboard your coach for an extensive city tour and the remainder of the day is free .
DAY 13 Wellington / Rotorua
View the snowcapped peaks of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro as you drive to Lake Taupo . Visit spectacular Huka Falls then travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua .
DAY 14 Rotorua
Begin with a gondola ride and breakfast at Skyline Rotorua where there is also time for a thrilling luge ride ! Next , stop at the Agrodome for an action-packed hour of farming entertainment and education . Enjoy free time before travelling to Te Puia to see the boiling mud pools and awesome geysers that Rotorua is famous for . This evening look forward to a Mãori Hãngi and Concert .
DAY 15 Rotorua / Bay of Islands
Travel north to the Parry Kauri Park to see a magnificent example of a Kauri Tree then on to the Bay of Islands where you have a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds .
DAY 16 Bay of Islands
Explore the scenic Bay of Islands including an island visit aboard a luxury catamaran . Cruise to Cape Brett and the famous ‘ Hole in the Rock ’, keep an eye out for dolphins and other marine life . On return to Paihia , enjoy a free afternoon where a range of optional activities are available .
DAY 17 Bay of Islands / Auckland
Travel via Whangarei and Dargaville to Matakohe and visit the Kauri Museum before continuing to Auckland for a city sights tour . This evening enjoy a farewell dinner .
DAY 18 Auckland Transfer to the airport for your onward journey .
