The Editor’s Letter.
Dear First timers,
What is Bio Medical Science? Does it sound familiar or have you ever heard
of the term? It doesn’t ring
bell in many of the generations out there, simply
because it is the new face
of rejuvenating Science+
Bio Medical Science is the
study of “tissue and body
fluids in order to diagnose
the disease and monitor
the treatment of patients+”(2015 IBMS)+ To give it out
it in terms all of you readers can understand, Bio
Medical Science is the
study of humans and their
functioning+ Sounds something out of a gothic horror
novel, yes? But let me tell
you, learning about us, humans, and every inch of us
is the most important
study we can do+ But then
again I am probably being
biased+ Now, this magazine you are about indulge
into, highlights this+
However, to give a little
emphasis from me on how
important this field is, Bio
Medical Science is the
foundation of modern
healthcare+ Ranging from
cancer screening to diagnosing HIV, from blood
transfusion for surgery to
food poisoning and infection control, the Bio Medical Scientists are the root
of it all+ Now don’t deny it,
the question of “Why do
we need you, Bio Medical
Scientists, when we have
doctors, nurses to do all
that testing??” is definitely
running in your head+ But
what you don’t realize is
the without these Scientists, you won’t be able to
get the reason behind your
bronchitis, or common
cold or stomach pain, or
the cure for it+ Sure, the
doctor is the one who prescribes the medicinal
treatment to you, but the
Bio Medical Scientists are
the people who research
and produce the treatment
required, for you, for everybody out there+ Bio Medical Scientists carry out
research in the medical
and biological Sciences to
help preserve health and
