Chart 1.5 - Drug performances of branded and generic
Drug A
(Brand No:1)
Figure 1.3 – ABST plates for Penicillin antibiotics
According to the test results the most pow-
Drug B
(Generic drug)
erful Penicillin antibiotic was Piperacillin/tazobactum+ And the second most powerful antibiotic was Amoxicillin+
The most powerful antibiotic for,
Streptococcus - Amoxicillin
Staphylococci - Penicillin
E-coli &Klebsiella - both Mecillinum and Piperacilin/tazobactum+
This clearly indicates that there is no significant difference in the drug performance among
the generic antibiotics and the branded antibiotics+ Furthermore, study results prove that
the generic antibiotics do not have any less performance than branded drugs though the
branded drugs are expensive compared to the prices of generic drugs+
However there are significant differences among some of the branded antibiotics indicating
that being a branded drug doesn’t ensure the quality or the drug performance of the antibiotics+
