Keep Moving at The Orchards FRESH FLOWERS Barb, dietary at The Orchards of Saxonburg, acquired some fresh cut flowers from a friend. She then made arrangements for each of the residents and delivered them to their rooms. Our residents were thrilled to see their beautiful arrangements! KEEP MOVING Physical activity and exercise are important to our physical and mental health so that we can stay engaged, be independent and enjoy life. It has long been documented that regular activity and exercise over extended periods of time can produce long-term health benefits as we age. But, even as we age, exercise can be an effective treatment for many chronic conditions. Studies have shown that people with arthritis, heart disease and diabetes benefit from regular exercise, as do those who have high blood pressure, balance problems and difficulty walking. Several of our scheduled activities, including exercise and our recreational sports groups, as well as movements such as self-propelling one’s wheelchair offer exercise opportunities for endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. The-Orchards.com Receiving flowers, whether they are sent from another person or you bought them for yourself, can give you an immediate mood boost. A bouquet of flowers is a sign that someone cares for you, and being wellthought of can do a lot for a person’s wellbeing. A pretty flower bouquet with bright colors and a soothing scent can brighten a room and your mood at the same time. https://blog. teleflora.com/ health-benefitsflowers/ THE ORCHARDS AT FOXCREST PICNIC The Orchards at Foxcrest will host a picnic for our residents on Thursday, August 13th with a rain date of Friday, August 14th.
