Narragansett Kitchen & Bar has landed at T. F. Green. By Lauren Clem
RHODE ISLAND VISITORS no longer have to wait long before getting a taste of the unofficial state beer. They can sample it right at the new Narragansett Kitchen & Bar, recently opened in Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport in Warwick.
“ What we wanted to do is have a place where people coming into Providence can get a little bit of Narragansett history by having a taproom there,” says Patrick Maguire, director of marketing at Narragansett Beer.
The restaurant is the first time the brand has partnered to host a public location outside its Providence taproom. Diners can experience pub food and classic Rhode Island dishes while sampling the latest Narragansett craft brews.
So what’ s on the menu? Along with the classic Narragansett Lager, customers can sample a range of styles brewed in the Providence taproom, including Fresh Catch, Musik Express IPA, Del’ s Shandy, Bohemian Pilsner and Atlantic Light. The drink menu also features an IPA from Tilted Barn Brewery, wines by the glass and aviation-themed cocktails.
The food menu features pub favorites like smash burgers, mac and cheese, pretzel bites and a fried chicken club. Those looking for more of a Rhode Island experience can sample the local specialties, including calamari fritto misto with cherry peppers, balsamic and lemon, Italian wedding soup, a loaded baked potato soup with chourico onion jam, fish and chips, and a house meatball grinder. narragansettbeer. com

Frozen in Time

Apponaug Village Creamery offers unlimited toppings and Hershey’ s flavors.
HERE’ S A SWEET new hangout spot in Warwick for families to freeze time even for just a moment. Apponaug Village Creamery, run by Molly Newman and her fiance, Joe Trillo, is located off Post Road near the Apponaug roundabouts.
“ We’ re trying to build a community here where it’ s something to do,” Trillo says.“ It’ s a destination where you come with your family, have a cone, sit on the patio, come out to one of the events, have fun with it.”
Newman and Trillo say the idea to open an ice cream shop first entered their minds during the COVID-19 pandemic. Newman, a nurse who’ d always worked face-to-face with patients, saw the impact of families not being able to spend time together in person. She no longer works as closely with patients in her new role and found herself craving more human connection.
“ I thought that I needed to do something more in the community and deal with people face-to-face,” she says.
Their main focus, Trillo says, is to offer families an affordable option when it comes to ice cream. The shop offers unlimited toppings for ninety-five cents. Customers can choose from goodies like Oreos, crushed Reese’ s peanut butter cups, gummy bears, peanut butter, hot fudge, strawberries, sprinkles and, of course, whipped cream.
“ We’ re very fortunate that we’ re in a position where we can do this as a fun thing,” Trillo says.“ It’ s kind of a way to give back a little and still have a sustainable business.” apponaugvillagecreamery. com— L. C.
