A New Era- Lock Haven Football’ s 2025 Season Is As Enticing As It Is Important
It wouldn’ t be hyperbole to call this season one of the most important for Lock Haven Football in years. With former head coach Dan Mulrooney taking a Defensive Coordinator job at Brown, all eyes will be on Hubert Jack Stadium to see if the program’ s resurgence was a fluke or a sign of things to come.
Leading the way for Lock Haven football this season is a familiar name, as former Bald Eagles Offensive Coordinator Joe Battaglia will take the reins for the Haven as the new Head Coach. Under Battaglia’ s three year stint as the program’ s OC, Lock Haven went from last to first over the three year period in terms of passing offense in the PSAC, with the Bald Eagles’ 291.2 passing yards per game, ranking 10th in the country in 2024.
The productivity was thanks in large part to graduate transfer quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky, who comes back to the Haven having set program single season records in passing yards( 3203) and touchdowns( 27).
As for the defensive side of the ball, notable returnees include safety Markel“ Bam” Morgan and linebacker Rocco Daugherty. Morgan represents a facilitator in Lock Haven’ s secondary, who posted 52 total tackles as well as an interception and forced fumble, with his“ Bam” moniker coming from his ability to lay the hit stick on opponents. Daugherty was a breakout linebacker for the Haven, who recorded four interceptions and 71 total tackles with six and a half tackles for loss.
With a daunting schedule ahead of them, it would be fair to call Lock Haven’ s season opener at home vs. Glenville State on September 6th a must win. Other home games feature East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, West Chester, Shepherd, and Gannon.
