Before the shoot , he stopped by Knead Doughnuts , which has a storefront in the lobby of the same building ( he recommends the strawberry shortcake ). Upstairs , he was greeted by the friendly owners Samantha and Shalika , who play good music while guests shop for a variety of plants .

First-time contributor and retired sportswriter Mike Scandura first met Boston Red Sox Executive Vice President / Assistant General Manager Raquel Ferreira after she graduated from the University of Rhode Island . They reconnected through her work at McCoy Stadium while he was the beat writer covering the former Pawtucket Red Sox for The Times of Pawtucket [“ A Seat at the Table ”]. “ I could tell that Raquel had a future in Major League Baseball ,” he says . “ The fact that only three other women hold such high-profile positions made her an ideal subject for a feature story .”
