Our story began some time in 2012 when Gary Pigott was looking for a stud dog . He had his eyes set on my dog , Wes , for his bitch , Carmine . He first got in contact with Leri Hanson ( who is Wes ’ s co-owner / trainer ). Long story short , Leri shared the intel with me , and we decided to move forward . Gary eventually reached out to me by phone and , after a long conversation , we learned that our intentions with dogs are similar ; to promote the breed through hard training . He was already familiar with Wes ’ s pedigree , but I was not familiar with Carmine ’ s . To my surprise , they shared some pivotal dogs in the pedigree ; dogs I considered to be foundational in the family tree . I was pretty much all in by that point . It was probably one of the best decisions I ever made , as far as dogs are concerned .
Gary made it really easy , to be honest . It was an all-expense-paid breeding , down to the specific brand of dog food I requested . He went above & beyond my expectations with his generosity , and he kept every bit of his word with no contract of sorts . It was merely a verbal agreement with no money exchanged . We set the flight date once the health certificate and OFA exams were completed . Leri and I dropped Wes off at the customs terminal of Los Angeles , and off he went to Maryland . He returned the following week unscathed , and 5 pups were born about 60 days later . From what I remembered , there were barely any bumps in the road . Carmine was an excellent mother , and Gary , well , he ’ s a dog man through and through . Thanks to him , every pup went to respectable & active homes . He kept Creasy , and we got his brother , Ruckus , here in Los Angeles . Gary placed the other 3 pups to close friends .
Fast forward to 2021 , and the litter has grown to do amazing things . 4 of 5 are conformation Champions in the ADBA & UKC . They have also competed in IPO , weight pulling , & ADBA Top Dog events , just to name a few things . Thanks to Gary ’ s leadership , Creasy has been groomed to be his demo dog for his Sit Means Sit business . He is a level 3 IPO dog , a family pet , and now on A & E ’ S TV show , America ’ s Top Dog ( see article , page 30 ). It ’ s quite incredible to think one of our dogs is on national television , but at the same time it was well deserved . We could not be more proud of Creasy . It ’ s not just a win in our family of dogs , but a win for the APBT breed . Gary ’ s dedication to his dog , family , and business is second to none . I have grown to learn that behind these great dogs , oftentimes , stands a great person . Gary is definitely one of those guys ….
