Riffraff Book Club
AUG. 18: Join Riffraff, a combo bookstore
and bar, for a virtual book club discussion
on Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler.
The book club assigns a new theme for each
season and will spend the next few months
focusing on genre fiction by black writers,
indigenous writers and writers of color. If

Gallery Night
AUG. 20: On the third Thursday of every
month, from March through November, the
capital city’s creative art spots open their
doors for a visual arts tour. Normally, you
can take the free guided art trolley or choose
to walk or drive to the galleries of your
choice, however, during the COVID-19 pandemic,
Gallery Night Providence offers a
virtual tour with Facebook Live interviews.

Wild Mushroom Workshop

and learn how to identify mushroom
groups and species native to Rhode Island.
Start with a presentation on mushroom
identification and view wild mushrooms

availability. Then, venture out for a hike in
the woods with an expert guide to find
mushrooms growing in the wild. Plus, sample
a couple of tasty mushroom dishes using
a variety of cultivated wild mushrooms.
