Commercial Printer Creates, Delivers 2K
Face Shields to Parker Jewish Institute
Parker Jewish Institute gratefully
received 2,000 face shields created
and delivered by Hatteras, a commercial
printing firm in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.
The face shields are for Parker’s dedicated
health-care workers on the frontline
at Parker Jewish Institute as they tend
to patients, many of whom are the
populations’ most vulnerable to the
unrelenting coronavirus.
Bill Duerr, the president of Hatteras,
described the experience as “most
humbling,” adding “there’s been an
overwhelming response.”
Like other companies, the firm saw
business slow once the pandemic hit, so
Duerr sought ways to put his resources to
good use.
“I saw there was a big need for face shields
made of materials that we typically print
on,” Duerr said. He found a prototype to
create the face shields. And in one week
his team created and donated 7,000 face
shields to local hospitals.
