Shelbyville’s Anne DePrez becomes
chair of CICOA Board of Directors
C
ICOA Aging & In-Home
Solutions’ Board of Directors
elected Anne DePrez chair of the
board at its annual meeting on June 26.
DePrez, a partner at Barnes and
Thornburg, has a passion for giving
people without a voice the ability to be
heard. It’s what drew her to become a
CICOA board member in 2009 and keeps
her involved today.
“I tend to support organizations that
are trying to give a seat at the table
to people who have lost it by age or
disability or who never had it in the first
place,” DePrez said. “Too often in society
– while we’ve made great strides –we don’t
take care of our elderly, we forget our
neediest and we never think we’ll be in
need as we age.”
While DePrez’s professional life has
focused on law, specifically in the fields of
securities and business litigation, she has a
special place in her heart for people who
are underserved.
CICOA empowers older adults and
people with disabilities in Central Indiana
to live more independently by connecting
them to resources such as in-home care,
transportation, meals and even medical
supplies and equipment. Too often,
though, people don’t realize how many
services the organization provides.
“It’s one of the best kept secrets,”
DePrez said. “I meet people who say, ‘I
wish I would have known.’ We need to be
better at promoting what we do at every
opportunity.”
DePrez wants board members to be
stronger advocates for the non-profit.
She also wants to help the organization
become better known across its eight-
county service area encompassing Boone,
Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson,
Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties.
DePrez is a native of Shelbyville and
still lives in the home where she grew
up. She is the board chair of the Christel
House Schools in Indianapolis, serves on
the board of the Christ Church Cathedral
Foundation in Indianapolis and is on
the governance committee for the Blue
River Community Foundation in Shelby
County.
The CICOA Board of Directors also
elected the following officers:
• 1st Vice Chair, Peter Bisbecos, executive
administrative director of The
Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana
• 2nd Vice Chair, Kathy Frank, geriatrics
program administrator of Indiana
University School of Medicine

president of operations, Wellpoint/
