A
teaching career was
not what Holly Ridge-
way set out to pursue
when she began taking
college classes. In fact,
she had always planned
a career in medicine. A hometown girl, Holly
attended Carolina Elementary, North Harts-
ville Elementary, Hartsville Junior High, and
Hartsville High School, and was anticipating
long years ahead in college and post grad-
uate work to accomplish her medical career
goals. However, it was not to be.
During her junior year in college, she be-
came engaged to Shane Ridgeway. Holly was
desperate to complete school as quickly as
possible so they could be married! Because
she had many of the prerequisite classes for
a degree in Education successfully complet-
ed, and because of her fondness for work-
ing with upper elementary, middle, and high
school students, Holly switched majors and
completed college much earlier than original-
ly planned. It was perhaps prov
