M Then & Now Photographed by Brandon Williams feature story Keoᄣ aldrich then: 1997 MY NAME: Keon Jordan MY SCHOOL: Darlington High School, Class of 1997 ME THEN: I was very carefree and full of energy. I didn’t mind saying what I was thinking or doing what I wanted to do, just as long as I didn’t get caught! MY STYLE: My style wasn’t too bad...I don’t think! I liked all of the latest fashions, and I loved going to JC Penney to get a new pair of Levi jeans to wear to a game on Friday night. WHAT I LOVED MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: I loved pep rallies the most because we could be as loud as we wanted to be and wouldn’t get into trouble with the teachers. A TYPICAL FRIDAY NIGHT: A Friday night for me meant hanging out with my friends at a basketball or football game, then going to the local hangout spot, which at the time was Burger King. People would circle Burger King in their cars with the music blasting, and we would just have a good time together. MY DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE: My dreams were to get married, have kids, and become a very success- ful attorney, but I would often change my dreams from time to time! MY FAVORITE TEACHER: My favorite teacher was Mrs. Susan Abraham. She was very down to earth and would tell us exactly what we needed to hear--whether we wanted to hear it or not. She kept it real with us and wanted the very best for everyone, not just the kids in her class. Everyone gave her the respect she deserved, even if she had just made you mad in her class. She was one of the coolest teachers I remember having in high school. 1998 HOW I THINK MY CLASSMATES WOULD HAVE DESCRIBED ME: I’m not really sure. I think I was friendly with everyone, so I don’t think anyone would have anything negative to say...but please don’t ask any of them! continued 102 AUGUST 2017 SHEMAGAZINE.COM
