disunited. At the moment, the various rebel groups are peaceful with one another. Following the war, though, it is impossible to imagine the groups working together towards a unified government. Most foreign policy specialists speculate that the rebel groups will go to war with one another and the emerging victor will control Syria. However, an equally possible alternative is a situation mirroring that in Somalia right now. That is to say, it is likely that each rebel group will gain complete autonomy over a certain region of Syria. Ongoing tensions will likely persist indefinitely between rival rebel groups seeking to expand their power, which will plague Syria with an ongoing civil war.
