eclectic love and collection of music? I should be in radio! So I left uni in 1997 and sought out a job in Hospital Radio just for the experience. Within a few months I landed myself my first radio show on London Turkish Radio, Tuesday nights 10pm - 12am called Nev G's Niteride playing R&B, D&B and HipHop. I stayed there for 9 years before moving on to Xtreme FM and then on to Deja Vu FM - where I have been doing Nev G's Nostalship for 6 years now, every Sunday between 6 - 8pm. It has given me a brilliant opportunity to interview some great artists and be as creative as I want, incorporating themes to most of my shows. For example: Nev G's 100% Gemini Artist Nostalship - whereby every artist I play is a Gemini. I give all dates of birth of these artists and do my research prior. Also, Nev G's Nostalship has also given me the pleasure of interviewing some artists such as Omar, Conya Doss, Don-E, Karyn White, Joyce Sims, Tony Momrelle, DJ Kane, Lady MC, Deman Rocker (Ragga Twins) and Dwele.
I do love presenting my own show on radio, but there's something quite priceless about playing to a dance floor as well; the reactions are instant. The blokes find it refreshing that a woman (and a glam one at that!) is behind the decks and the women feel rather good about the fact that a woman is representing for that hour. It's very heartwarming when women approach me to big me up for my set.
Your Nostalship shows take us through old school music together with special astrology episodes and readings… Can you tell us a little about this, are you quite into spirituality and get vibes from people?
I am very intuitive about people’s energies but I don't tell everyone or put this fact out there on social media. My spirituality is a very personal thing for me. Along with a lot of other stuff, I hold it close to my heart, my feelings intensify more that way and my intuitive side is quite private for me.
I've always been in to my fitness regime and in 2010 I discovered Bodybalance; it's a cross between Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. It works on all the core muscle groups with an 8-10 minute meditation at the end. This adds to my spiritually connected side. I absolutely love it, it makes me feel centered, empowered, strong and all zenned out.
I have been in to astrology since I was a teenager; my mother was too and I guess I get it from her. What I would say to the sceptics is that it's not about your daily horoscope in the paper that you need to go by, more the adjectives of characters described in astrology that is a really good guide to get an idea of
