The ‘Milky Pops’ EP by Gribzy holds a very minimal style to the sound, yet has a nice level of depth, texture and variety. The title track has a huge heart of good feelings and an old school warmth. The darker ‘Hidden Truth’ plays with a tough bass which is offset by the sweeter notes. Royal Flush brings a fresh bass tone to his remix.
Downplay is proud to present the new EP from Bristol producer Gribzy.
‘Milky Pops’ builds a relentless rhythm on shuffling beats and 2-step percussion before backing into a huge, undulating bassline melody that will keep the dancefloor bumping for the duration. Gribzy keeps the vibe interesting across the length of the track by adding extra spice with FX, percussion and keys to proceedings.
‘Hidden Truth’ takes a darker path to the same point with ominous keys and disjointed vocal samples coalescing into a massive 4X4 stomper with meaty bass stabs that will test the biggest and best soundsystems this summer.
Downplay label mates Royal Flush wrap things up with a classic UKG re-fix of the lead track that has a distinct dub flavour that feels deceptively simple, but draws you in as the track progresses.
