Playing The World Around Me

We first discovered the creative genius JJ Riordan last month and shared with you his version of ‘Cola’ using Coca Cola bottles. We’re delighted to now present an insight into his mind in which the whole world is his soundboard. Where we see everyday objects, he sees music waiting to be played.

The latest creation utilises his new flat by mixing together the percussive wall, the melodic cooking pots, the synth microwave and more making up your next house banger! It’s really fun and you watch with amazement, trying to see all the little sounds and which items they pair up with. Fantastic.

Hello! My name is JJ Riordan and I compose music using everyday items! I was in the middle of my Masters Degree, in University College Cork, when I began composing with the world around me and since then, I have become increasingly invested in how I, or anyone for that matter, can utilise the everyday locations, rooms and/or items around us to create musical compositions.
