Breaking The Silence
We often take many things for granted. Hearing, is a vital aspect of the music industry. It's important to treat your ears with care, many DJs find tinnitus or loss impact them when it's probably too late.
When speaking with HearAngel, DJ Adam K mentions that headphones should come with a "Please listen responsibly" warning.
Breaking The Silence was incredible to watch live, the reactions of these amazing people being able to hear again (or even in some cases, for the first time). The feelings that must have surrounded them, the sudden rush of sounds that will overwhelm them. One mentionned that it was like being a child and learning again.
Stop and pause for a moment. What can you hear? The sweet song of the birds at sunrise, the gentle rustle of the autumn leaves beneath your feet or simply the precious notes of a loved one's voice.
This ground-breaking observational documentary (a signed live version aired simultaneously on 4Seven) brings together a group of profoundly deaf people and over the course of an hour of live television and shares the moment they may hear for the very first time since having a cochlear implant fitted. The implant, an electronic device which stimulates the inner ear, can replace hearing that has been lost and gives access to sounds users were previously unaware of. The programme provides privileged access to this potentially huge life-altering moment - as it happens.
