The Act of Compassion
by David
"Be kind to one another."
The statement is well-loved, but do we adhere to it? My thoughts are quite troubled in these times of darkness and have become slightly disorientated. To make sense of it, you must first allow yourself to be vulnerable and then bask yourself in the light.
All that matters in life is that we show compassion to others and that we live a life of integrity and to try to give back in any sort of way. It is truly a blessing to be able to help someone out. Happiness is right in front of us but many of us put importance on the wrong things; material possession, physical appearance, and physical prowess. In retrospect, do these things really mean anything? Is any of this the key to happiness? While there is nothing wrong in having fortunes, fame, or power, etc... A balance is needed and this world is so unbalanced!
True beauty is a person who is kind, loving, forgiving. True wealth is having an abundance of heart and family and friends to share it with. I fear these values are truly becoming lost!
Growing up in this harsh society, we were taught to harden our hearts in order to avoid getting hurt. But all we're doing is closing ourselves up to the energy of hope and faith! So instead of building walls and confining ourselves, why not open up our windows and let the sun illuminate our souls! And as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
