In Winter
The artwork holds three colours. The backing in a pretty teal is covered with an intricate winter design in ivory. The figure of a lady is seen perching in the centre holding a guitar which embraces a vivid scarlet material. This visual scene paints the picture of a sound that will be lovely and subtle, though with a hint of something bold and ravishing.
This is a simply divine album with the main focus on heavenly harmonies and vocal dynamics. There are very few intruments used to allow this level of beautiful experimentation.
"The idea came from a conversation," says Katie as she describes the discovery of not being able to find an album to suit the winter season. There was a need for "an album that would fill the house with wonderful, warm, poignant sounds rather than the usual jingle-bells pop songs."
The cosy and chilled tone throughout is a perfect accompaniment for the winter months. My favourite song from the album is "River".
