Javed Vayid is the General Manager at The Irish, the first Irish pub/restaurant in Mauritius. The Irish launched towards the end of 2015 with the original concept of a combination venue - club, bar & restaurant. After a trial of this combo, the management quickly gauged and acknowledged the fact that the customers wanted something different.

The Irish is now a unique place to enjoy well thought out culinary creations, delicious signature cocktails & beverages and intimate entertainment performances. The pub/restaurant boasts of having the multi-awarded Chef Ronan Boucher in their kitchen cooking up interesting dishes, one of which is the Traditional Beef & Guinness pie. A fantastic nod to Ireland by using the classic dry stout as a reduction in the meal. Turning our attention to drinks, the Tiki cocktail and Jameson Irish Whisky are amongst their selection.

The food & drinks market is a new direction for Javed, who has made his name primarily in nightclub management and events. Formerly the Director of Les Enfants Terribles nightclub, his passion for clubbing and business propelled him to success. Whilst running Les Enfants Terribles, he achieved the task of furthering the brand's identity turning it into the island's leading nightclub with a high reputation, also gaining notable partners including Clubbing TV and CÎROC.

The businessman is one of the most influential and inspirational people on the paradise island, ahead of St Patrick’s Day & Mauritian Independence Day I had the pleasure of interviewing Javed for our magazine..

My name is Javed Vayid, 31 years-old, born in the small paradise of Mauritius Island! My professional background is mostly related to the entertainment sector. My current position is General Manager of The Irish, a newly built concept located in the centre of the Island. My main tasks consist of bringing value to the brand by creating a strong identity, customer loyalty and to make it a top quality venue - in terms of food/beverage and entertainment. I am also responsible for the long-term business growth, expansion and sustainability.
