Luck and the Unluck
GRAMMY’S. BRITS. February was a huge month for music awards. And especially being a girl who aspires to someday be at these award shows representing music artists, it is definitely a dream motivator watching these shows each year.
During acceptance speeches and on social media posts, every artist said how lucky they were to be there. Being in the room surrounded by the celebration of music artists must be a humbling and overwhelming feeling. These are “Sarah’s Thought’s” some of the most memorable moments during these recent award shows.
Lady Gaga’s David Bowie Tribute: MAN. I don’t think they could’ve picked a more perfect person to perform. She completely enveloped his character by dressing like him, expressing his facial expressions, dancing, and even coloring her hair his bright red. Although David Bowie’s son said he wasn’t impressed, I think it was a fun, well-rehearsed, and confident medley of the highlights of his career.
Lorde’s David Bowie Tribute: Documented on Duncan Jones’s Twitter, one can infer he did enjoy this tribute better than Lady Gaga’s. I was surprised that Lorde was picked to perform this tribute, but of course I can’t complain or criticize.
Lionel Richie Tribute: The greatest aspect of this tribute was the fact it combined many genres of music with country from Luke Bryan, pop from Demi Lovato and Meghan Trainor, and R&B from John Legend.
TSWizzle vs. Kanye: This feud has been going on way too long. They fight, then are photographed together, then fight again, then forgive. It’s relentless. When Taylor Swift accepted her Grammy for Album of the Year, she passively responded to a lyric released by Kanye in one of his new songs called “Famous” in which Kanye takes credit for making Taylor famous, referring to the 2009 MTV Video Award incident. She responded in her acceptance speech saying “I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”
Little Mix performance at the Brit’s: This is me just being a superfan of the girl group, and loving the empowerment and intimidation factor incorporated into their performance. The tribal men, choreography, pyrotechnics added a level of intensity to a song that sounds more bubblegum and sparkly. Watch what I’m talking about here.
Although many artists have been
