I was always searching for my role within music, and everything clicked into place when MySpace and social media kicked off. I started working with an Australian band called Blackchords they were just starting out and knew they had to be on MySpace but had no idea how to make it work for them. In my professional life I am a marketing strategist, helping brands use sponsorship more effectively in music and sports, it became clear that the discipline of the brand marketing world could be applied to the band marketing world. My role was to help bands think more like brands in their approach to marketing and promotion. I started managing social media for Blackchords before becoming their UK manager. So the first incarnation of RCM was very marketing focused, but as I started managing Blackchords I realised the need for a blog. If I just talked about one band all the day, people got bored so my logic was why not write about hundreds of bands and build an audience of new music fans so when I do want to write about Blackchords there would be an established audience of people that actually wanted to listen. So the blog was born. We currently attract around 6,000 visitors per month. Last year we had visitors from 185 different countries. The volume of music I now receive is almost overwhelming and shows me there is a need for what I do, there are so many incredible artists out there who just don't get the exposure and support their music deserves.

Music is my closest ally and best friend, there is rarely a moment when I don't have music by my side. It provides a near constant soundtrack to my life and everything I do. My appetite for music is constant, and I wish there were more hours in the day to here more!
