There I was curled up beside you. Nothing else mattered. It was just you and me. I wedged my arm in between a pillow and myself, and propped my head up to try to catch a glimpse of your face. Eyelids closed against the moonlight and your breathing soft and relaxed, all the muscles in your face and body were totally at peace, like a baby in its first throes of slumber. Time stood still as your serene dreams blocked out the care and toil lived out each and every day. Not a twitch, not a spasm, barely any movement of your chest rising and falling with each intake of air such was the depth of your oblivion. The innocence shown on your sleeping face made the world seem to stand still. I slowly leaned forward and kissed your forehead.
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?
“I love you, baby,” I whispered under my breath.
Sinking back into my pillow, I heaved in a deep drag of air, sighed, and smiled to myself. Something happened and I fell head over heels, deeper in love with you. I had completely lost control. That was when I knew love was real; by the way my heart started pounding.
Have you ever felt this way?
