Over the past year Rapper & songwriter/producer Jae Boogz has been making his way through London’s underground music scène showing ruthless determination while using his unique voice, lyric writing style and slogan “UKnW” to stand out in the over saturated market of underground rap music. After releasing his sophomore mixtape in 2013 ‘Mr 365’, Jae Boogz continued to release a flurry of net videos as well as being featured on a number of Road Rap Bangers one of which was Chain Smoke Ent’s Fastline which reached over 40,000 view in less than 2 weeks.
Keeping the buzz alive has seemed effortless for this south London native. Although his growing online presence has helped gain the attention of a number of veteran artists and music industry professionals, one online profile that most of his fans seem to seriously appreciate is his Soundcloud. This is where Boogz makes sure to upload a number of unreleased songs for his fans both before and after his official mixtape releases, which are usually distributed by the UK's number one mixtape site Hoodtapes.co.uk.
April saw the surprize releases of his 3rd mixtape which is titled ‘South Of the Thames’ which has already been downloaded over 7,000 times by UK Rap fans across the world. All this with little or no promo. The release which is rumored to be the 1st edition to a 2 part series, has shot Jae Boogs and his right hand man Dipz, who is also a solo artist, into the world of mixtape fame. The duo have now been receiving a number of bookings from as far as Eastern Europe and they continue to carve their way through the underground rap scene.
Some critics have put his current success down to his work ethic and continuous passion to create heavy hitting and exciting road rap music while still keeping his concepts true to life relatable to his audience. I feel that this is definitely a fair point. While others have put this down to the heavily co-ordinated post release campaigns via his Instagram and Twitter accounts. Not only has he continuously uploaded short clips of his music for views to preview but Boogz has also continued to give away unreleased solo material via soundcloud, something that is rarely done.
Either way, one thing is for sure - This London based rapper has taken his time to find himself through a process of continuously feeding his fan base with music and working with a number of other artists within his field.
