30 YEARS OF AJC HISTORY
M March 27 , 2017 AJC opens the Shapiro Silverberg AJC Central Europe Office . The office is dedicated to seven Central European countries : the Czech Republic , Estonia , Hungary , Latvia , Lithuania , Poland , and Slovakia .
2017 AJC becomes a founding member of the Board of the National Latino- Jewish Leadership Council . The group aims to build communication and cooperation , further strengthening the Latino-Jewish partnership in advocating for issues of shared concern and values cherished by both communities .

“ Israel is a robust democracy with many rights and freedoms that do not exist in neighboring countries — or in much of the world . Yet , while fundamental rights are trampled and atrocities are committed routinely not far beyond its borders , BDS supporters focus only on Israel .”
“ The BDS movement would also undermine peacemaking by suggesting that economic and political pressure on Israel can replace real negotiation .”
“ Our commitment is to the principle of two states for two peoples , existing side by side in peace , security and mutual recognition , and achieved through direct , bilateral negotiations .”
June 5 , 2017 AJC unites all 50 U . S . governors in a bipartisan condemnation of the anti-Israel Boycott , Divestment , and Sanctions ( BDS ) Movement . A full-page AJC ad in The Wall Street Journal salutes the nation ’ s governors for their opposition to BDS .
June 2018 For the first time ever , and in honor of the rebirth of the Jewish state 70 years earlier , AJC Global Forum 2018 convenes in Jerusalem . More than 2,500 participants from 56 countries make AJC Global Forum the largest-ever American Jewish advocacy event in Israel . In a historic moment at the event , Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz acknowledges his country ’ s responsibility to the Jewish people and , for the first time , the State of Israel , declaring that the Austrian government views both the fight against antisemitism and the security of Israel as part of its Staatsräson , or national interest .

December 6 , 2017 The United States recognizes Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Jewish state and begins planning to relocate the U . S . Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem . The Embassy opens in May 2018 .
