2014 Throughout the Operation Protective Edge conflict between Israel and Gaza , AJC ’ s advocacy activities go into overdrive . Through online action alerts and social and traditional media , AJC reaches a broad and influential audience .
September 2015 Leaders for Tomorrow ( LFT ), AJC ’ s education and advocacy program for teens , launches . LFT gives students the tools to talk about the issues impacting world Jewry today , and the confidence to stand up for these issues in college and throughout their lives , no matter how difficult the situation . To date , LFT has reached nearly 400 high school students across the U . S .
June 6 , 2016 A two-page AJC ad in The Wall Street Journal lists the 508 U . S . and European mayors and municipal leaders who have signed on to AJC ’ s Mayors United Against Antisemitism campaign , pledging to combat bigotry against Jews in their jurisdictions . It is the largest public statement against antisemitism in history . Of the signatories , David Harris says :

July - August 2014 Heightened tensions follow the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens leading to an exchange of rocket fire . This results in a formal Israeli offensive , Operation Protective Edge , against Hamas in the Gaza Strip . The rocket fire lasts seven weeks , with the Israel Defense Forces targeting Hamas rocket launchers that were placed on the densely-populated Strip .
