January 30 , 2010 With the support of the German government , AJC advances an international initiative , Protecting Memory , to protect mass graves in Eastern Europe that had been left , in many cases , untended since World War II . Deidre Berger , the director of AJC Berlin at this time , says :
lt is time to commemorate the victims . It is time to rescue the histories and memories of those lives were extinguished .”
June 27 , 2011 AJC becomes the first national Jewish organization to receive the distinction of LEED Gold certification for transforming its New York headquarters into an environmentally friendly , energy-efficient office building . AJC ’ s action receives plaudits from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg , who says in a
letter to AJC :

30 YEARS OF WORLD HISTORY
2011 The “ Arab Spring ” continues , as revolutions in Tunisia , Egypt , and Libya follow , with uprisings in Yemen and Bahrain , and protests in several other Arab countries .
October 20 , 2011 Libyan rebels take control of the capital , Tripoli , effectively overthrowing the government of Muammar Gaddafi . The Libyan leader is killed in Sirte , with National Transitional Council forces taking control of the city and ending the war .
